A new series of SPOT (Take5) images is now available for the Italian ERMES study area

The Italian researchers of ERMES project are receiving by CNES and ESA some SPOT (Take5) satellite images centred on the Lomellina area, which represents the ERMES Italian study area.

The SPOT (Take5) experiments consist in using SPOT satellite as a simulator of the image time series that ESA’s Sentinel-2 mission will start providing in the next months. The images (10 meters resolution) are processed every 5 days. The experiment is jointly conducted by CNES and ESA from April to September 2015 over 150 sites, including the Lomellina area. The Italian ERMES researchers sent their application some months ago asking to be part of the experiment and will soon start to analyze the images to include them in the processing chains dedicated to rice crop monitoring.
