During the 15^th of December 2015 meeting , hosted by the Italian “Distretto Agricolo risaie della Lomellina”, ERMES results regarding the activity with Lomellina famers were presented to the board of the Distretto. This is given by more than 10 farmers and one company (Agri consulting and precision farming company) interest in ERMES services.

The activities carried out during 2014 and 2015 involved mainly two farmers, who are members of the Distretto and made use of ERMES products for supporting their agro-practices.

During 2014, ERMES objective was to set up all the procedure, to test Very High Resolution (VHR) satellite acquisition for analyze the variability of rice canopy, to compare Vegetational indices (VIs) with yield maps and to test the use of smart app by the farmers.

The second year (2015) was exploited to test the procedure in a pre-operational system for supporting nitrogen fertilization with VHR data and demonstrate the utility of VHR data to support field inspection through smart scouting. Finally the VHR data acquired during the season were exploited to demonstrate the positive effects of variable rate fertilization (e.g. increase productivities for low vigor area and reduce over all field heterogeneity), made by the two farmers during the season, with information provided by ERMES project.
