Greek workshop on ERMES results and products
The Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources Institute of ELGO – DEMETER in cooperation with the workshop for Forest Management and Remote Sensing of the Forestry and Natural Environment department of A.U.TH. and the Chalastra B Farm Association are organizing a meeting for the information of the Thessaloniki region rice farmers for the results of the research projects ERMES. The meeting will take place on the 2nd of December and at 6 pm in the hall of the cultural center of Sindos (Papagou 7).
In this meeting will be presented data on the reduction of several inputs on rice cultivation (agrochemichals, fertilizers, energy consumption etc.), through the use of remote sensing technology and there will be a practice display of the products and the services of ERMES and RICEGUARD programmes. The benefit for the farmer is that we can achieve reduction in the cultivation cost in rice farming and protection for the environment.
Furthermore, there will be a discussion on issues concerning the creation of new and quality rice products, which is a factor of paramount importance for the demand and distribution of rice products both in national and international markets.
