The cropping systems team of the University of Milan (UMIL) is active in developing simulation models for analyzing, monitoring and managing cropping systems. UMIL has a specific experience in developing advanced techniques for crop monitoring and yield forecasting. The Department coordinates the development of the WARM rice model.
Responsibilities and Activities within ERMES
UMIL will lead WP6 and coordinate the Model Requirements identification. UMIL will participate also to other WPs to facilitate the definition of user requirements and service design , thanks to its knowledge of rice cropping systems; will acquire field data in the Italian case study at local scale and contribute to the evaluation of the Smart application.
